Anele Heiges, President of IPPI, to Deliver UN Women's Circle Campaign Statement Thursday

Anele Heiges, president of International Public Policy Institute, sat all day this past Monday ready to give the UN Women’s Circle Campaign Statement.

There were ten NGO organizations invited and we were number five. When it became close to the closing of the day and no NGO organization had been called upon, Anele negotiated with the women representing the ten organizations about all using a shorter version of their statements so that all could be given. All but one agreed. She brought this idea to the Chair of the CSW, Mr. Garen Nazarian of Armenia, who was conducting the General Discussion Session. He was grateful for the cooperation.

At the close of the Session with no time for any NGO statements, he promised that all 10 organizations would be given their 3 minutes Thursday morning. Anele felt very pleased that she helped facilitate a process that included everyone and gives us, Millionth Circle and Circle Connections, credit for teaching her Circle Principles of power-with, cooperation and collaboration.

The woman from Pakistan had to go home so Anele told the Ambassador they would read her statement. He thanked her and all of them for their understanding. We just received our Thursday CSW NGO invitation.

From Circle Connections email to our members.

UN Women and CSW staff are thinking and acting "outside the box" that greatly reduced our time waiting in line for receiving our UN passes and the UN Women Launch on Thursday was done in an egalitarian manner. http://www.unwomen.org/2011/02/un-women-celebrates-launch-as-powerful-driver-of-womens-equality/ is the link to the Launch press release. Please share this with others. I was sitting in the balcony of the General Assembly where I could see a circle process happening during this inspiring event. Michelle Bachelet along with many other world leaders and celebrities spoke on stage and at the end of the program during the singing, clapping and dancing to the song Woman, she and her esteemed board members and colleagues came into the back of the hall making a circle of the room. For all of us who have worked to have UN Women and even for those who came to CSW for the first time, we cried with joy and hugged one another in appreciation.

Estrogen is flowing and circles modeling feminine principles are co-creating a new culture of abundance, cooperation, collaboration. It is being in circle that our greatness is nurtured and empowered to shine into the world. We are UN Women changing the world. Please tell others this great news that has not been mentioned by the mainstream media. We need to become the new media.
